Chronologically Related Events to Come
(Updated 1/29/98)

This article is currently made up of mostly Bible verses without much of my analysis given.  I plan on providing analysis later when I can.  The current purpose for this article is to let the reader know that there are Bible passages that tie many predicted future events together in such a way that when one event occurs, it is possible to determine when one or more other events will occur, many right down to the exact day.

A general key to end time chronology is found in Dan. 9:24-27-- "Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.  Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times.  And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined.  Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate."The Hebrew word translated "week" literally means "seven," and the ancient Jew interpreted a "seven" as seven years or seven days.  The following verses show that this "week" means seven years in certain contexts (Gen. 29:27-28)-- "Fulfill her week, and we will give you this one also for the service which you will serve with me still another seven years."  Then Jacob did so and fulfilled her week. So he gave him his daughter Rachel as wife also."

It has been shown that Christ was literally "cut off" (died) 483 years (seven plus sixty-two, all times seven years) after the decree went out from King Darius to rebuild Jerusalem.  The last "week" of seven years is still future, and was predicted to  BEGIN with someone making a peace treaty with Israel to allow them to once again begin Temple sacrifices and offerings. The Jews currently cannot do do such things because the Palestinians control the Temple site.  Once believers find out about this treaty, it will be easy to figure out 3.5 years later to when this "someone" will break the treaty.  Other passages make it clear that each of these years are "biblical" 360 days per year.   Therefore, 3.5 "biblical" years equal 1260 days.  Another way to say 3.5 years in the Bible is "a time, times, and half a time, where "time" equals one year, and "times" equal two years.  Take a look at Dan. 12:6-7-- "And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?"  Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, thatit shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished."

Dan 12:11-12-- "And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.   Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days."

Rev 9:1-6 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. And their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

Rev 9:7-11 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

Rev 13:1-8 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Rev 12:5-9-- "She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.  Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.  And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,  but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.  So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

Rev 11:1-13--  "Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, "Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.  But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles.  And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.  And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.  These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.  And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.  These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.  Now when they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.  And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.  Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.  And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.  Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.  And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.  In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand men were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven."

Dan 8:13-14-- "Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, "How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?"  And he said to me, "For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.""

Rev 20:2-3--  "He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while."

Rev 20:4-10-- "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.  But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.  Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.  Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.  They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.  The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are.  And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

Rev 9:13-16-- "Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."  So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.  Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them."  This is an amazingly large army, especially considering the fact that there was probably less than one hundred million people alive in the entire world at the time of the writing of this prophecy.

Rev 8:1-2-- "When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.  And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets."

Rev 14:6-7-- "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth-- to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people-- saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.""

Here is a verse that seems to use the word "hour" in a less literal way (Rev 17:12)-- "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast."

Rev 18:9-10-- "The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.' "

Rev 18:17--" 'For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.' Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance."

Rev 18:19-- "They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.' "

(Added 1/29/98) The coming Antichrist's predicted political machine needs to grow in the following way (Rev 17:9-13)-- "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.  There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.  "And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.  "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.  "These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.  I tend to agree with the Bible scholars who say the seven mountains refer to the mountains of Rome.  The seven kings seem to refer to seven different kingdoms.  The author (John) wrote these words before 100 AD, during the sixth kingdom, which would seem to clearly include the Roman Empire.  Many say that the seventh kingdom is the Holy Roman Empire (the Catholic Church).  There are quite a few good arguments for believing this.  The Antichrist will originate from the seven kingdoms that have come before it somehow.  This seems to mean that he will include a mixture of all their false practices and beliefs in his creation of the eighth kingdom.  Note: the ten kings will only come into power AFTER the Antichrist comes into power.  It therefore will be fruitless to try and guess exactly how these ten future will kingdoms under the Antichrist's authority will be organized, especially since the Antichrist will be busy changing nearly everything he can, including the times and laws (Dan 7:25)-- He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time.  Let's not get stuck with just assuming that these ten nations will be the European Union, though it seems likely that they will be included.  It also seems clear that kingdoms five through eight are all included in the fourth kingdom predicted by Daniel (Dan 2:40-44)-- "And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.  "Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.  "And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile.  "As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.  "And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. For quite a while, the world has had the strange mixture that we take for granted of being partly strong and partly fragile nations, all loosely connected for the most part.  This strange mixture was what came out of the of the Roman Empire (and probably the Holy Roman Empire).  I found it interesting that when God destroys the Antichrist's kingdom, the Bible states that He allows the other rulers to continue living for about 1.25 years (Dan 7:11-12)--"I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.  "As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time."  It is understood that a time is one year.  I am not absolutely certain, but it seems that a season would be one-quarter of a year.  This would indicate that there will be an adjustment period (somewhat) into Christ's one-thousand year reign on earth.

Even though most of the future prophecies are not tied together by specific time amounts, the order of their occurrence is either directly obvious, or can be easily determined by comparisons made of related Scriptures.  For example, watch for the word "then" which gives you the clear order of certain predicted events.  Also, the order given regarding the seven seals and seven bowls in the book of Revelation give us an obvious chronological order.
